Professional Statement
Expert treatment for sleep problems: I am a behavioral sleep specialist, treating sleep disorders for over 20 years. I use the most effective intervention available – Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, recognized as the gold standard treatment by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, surpassing any medication or other types of psychotherapy. This short-term intervention involves training in practical skills to sleep better, and individuals who learn these skills improve quickly – often within 3-5 sessions -- and maintain their ability to sleep well, long after treatment is completed.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a short-term skills-based treatment that has demonstrated high effectiveness for treating insomnia (at least 50% improvement for about 80% of patients within 4-10 sessions) and has considerably greater long-term effectiveness than sleeping medication, the default treatment for sleep problems.
The whole world seems brighter after a good nights sleep. Sleep is CRUCIAL for stress reduction, cardiovascular health, enhanced memory, weight control and mood regulation. NO DRUGS. NO GIMMICKS. And you'll live longer and happier.
