Professional Statement
In over 40 years as a psychologist, I have specialized in helping clients with anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain, and those challenged by grieving and dying. I offer an approach designed to help each individual quiet their mind and body so they may discover the sources of imbalance that lie beneath the painful physical and emotional symptoms that they are experiencing. Clients are encouraged throughout the therapy process to use their time of distress as a spiritually auspicious time to increase their self-understanding by opening to the deeper dimensions of themselves.
I am devoted to helping clients integrate the process of personal development and spiritual awakening into their lives. A long-time practitioner and teacher of meditation, I have developed an Integrated Therapy Program for Transforming Stress and Pain while serving as the director of an outpatient university hospital pain clinic.
I am the author or editor of 6 published books including The Changing Faces of Therapy: Evolving Perspectives in Clinical Practice and Assessment, and Opening to Dying and Grieving: A Sacred Journey. I currently serve as director of the Awakening Therapy Center in Discovery Bay, CA and as staff psychologist in several assisted-living and skilled nursing facilities in the Bay Area.
