Professional Statement
I'm a licensed clinical health psychologist who has been working and teaching in the field for over 25 years, and I am the author of the book, 8 Keys to End Emotional Eating (Norton). My practice is focused on helping people overcome all forms of emotional eating, including binge eating and bulimia, as well as repeated unwanted eating that doesn't meet the criteria for a diagnosis. I use the highly effective approach that I describe in my book to help people understand what compels them to eat, despite knowing they'll regret it later. With this understanding, they're able to address the real issues that underlie the behavior.
My therapeutic approach is active and insight-oriented, with an integrated use of approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, to address the causes of emotional eating, offering insight and practical solutions.
