Dr. Shaw has a warm, friendly, and open presence. She values practicing authentically, sincerely, and respectfully within her practice. She strives to work with her clients to achieve insight, growth, and meaning. She is well versed working with individuals struggling with angst, dread, grief, low sense of self, those whom struggle interpersonally and experience loneliness, individuals whom have experienced hardship and trauma, and those whom are undergoing life transitions. Dr. Shaw is dedicated to working collaboratively with her clients to achieve respective goals and is eager to embark upon the shared therapeutic journey.
Dr. Shaw practices from an Existential and Philosophical perspective, and utilizes Experiential and Relational Processing, as well as aspects of ACT, Mindfulness, and trauma informed care to increase mental flexibility, adaptive skills, and improved relationships.
Dr. Shaw’s therapeutic style is direct, non-structured, and person-centered. She is relational, strength-based, and culturally sensitive. She views the client as the expert of their own lived experience and focuses on the here-and-now. Dr. Shaw is known to emphasize personal choice, creativity, love, authenticity, and responsibility.
