Professional Statement

I am a multilingual sex and relationship therapist with a multicultural focus and I offer sessions in English and Turkish.

I specialize in the following populations: bi/multicultural individuals, cross-cultural couples, expats, LGBTQ+. I have expertise working with non-traditional relationship arrangements, such as polyamory, open relationships and kink. I have high cultural competence working with clients from North America, Europe, Middle East and South Asia.

I use an integrative psychotherapeutic approach involving mindful sexuality practices, CBT, the Gottman Method, Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and techniques based on cognitive psychology, positive psychology, attachment theory, focusing, mindfulness, and breathing and movement practices. I am also a practitioner/instructor of tai chi, bagua and qigong and I use these modalities in my clinical practice.

I have taught psychology for over two decades as an adjunct Associate Professor at New York University.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING A SESSION WITH ME: Please make sure to request a session at least 24 hours in advance of the session time. If you request a session within 24 hours of the session time, I may not be able to accommodate your request.

Education/Experience

I am a cross-cultural psychologist with a focus on sexuality, sexual health and relationships. In addition to my research and clinical practice, I have taught psychology for over two decades as an adjunct Associate Professor at New York University. I currently teach graduate-level classes on love, sexuality and relationships and group dynamics.

I have worked as a trainer and consultant for organizations working to strengthen sexual and reproductive rights and health worldwide, particularly in Asia and the Middle East. I have also headed research departments at non-profit organizations in New York City and conducted evaluation research on programs serving individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders and histories of homelessness.

In addition to my license as a clinical psychologist, I am also a certified Medical Qigong Therapist (a healing modality) and Instructor of Earth Qigong for Women, which is a movement practice aimed at enhancing women’s sexual and reproductive health and well-being.

Having lived or worked in over 25 countries, I am multilingual in English, Turkish, French and Italian. I often work with professionals and creatives who are bicultural, multicultural, or expats. My geographic/cultural area of expertise extends to North America, Europe, Middle East and South Asia.

I offer sessions in both English and Turkish.
